Bicycle Access

SL Green’s Bicycle Access Plan for 245 Park Avenue is offered in accordance with NYC Local Law 52. The plan applies to office buildings and requires Management to allow bicycle access upon written request of a tenant. Tenants may request bicycle access for employees who plan to commute to work by bike, on a form provided by the NYC Department of Transportation. The form is available at www.nyc.gov/html/dot

Bicycles must be stored within the tenant space and may not block egress or ingress in any way. This means that bicycles may not be stored in any corridors. Per the legislation, access is required to be granted only during normal hours of operation for freight elevators, which is currently 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday. Please keep in mind that freight usage is on a “first come, first served” basis and as such, we ask that participants remain patient, especially during peak hours. Cyclists are required to register in advance with the building and the bikes will be issued identification.

Bicycles and Large Scooters
The loading dock and freight elevator must be utilized for individuals travelling by bicycle or large scooter.  Advanced registration is also required with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and will be issued identification from the building.

If freight service is required after-hours, Building Security must be contacted, and standard overtime usage rates will apply. Although Management will try to accommodate these requests, we cannot guarantee freight availability, as other building operations (i.e. cleaning, tenant construction projects, etc.) typically occur after normal business hours.

Foldable Scooters
The Park and Lexington Avenue entrances and the passenger elevators can be utilized for individuals travelling by foldable scooter.

General Reminders

Bicycles must be stored within the tenant space and may not block egress or ingress in any way. This means that bicycles may not be stored in any corridors.   Per the legislation, access is required to be granted only during normal hours of operation for freight elevators, which is currently 8AM to 6PM, Monday to Friday.  Please keep in mind that freight usage is on a “first come, first served” basis and as such, we ask that participants remain patient, especially during peak hours.  Cyclists are required to register in advance with the building and the security staff will have your name on a list in the loading load. You must be on that list for access to be granted. As part of notifying the management office, each cyclist must  sign and return an Indemnity Waiver form.

At no time may any passenger elevators be used for bicycle access.  If an individual is found doing so, his/her bike access privileges will be revoked immediately.  Additionally, each tenant assumes sole liability for bicycles brought into the building.  Any damage to common areas caused by tenant’s staff transporting bikes from the freight car to their demised premises will be repaired at tenant’s expense (i.e. carpet cleaning, wall repairs, etc.)
